I can’t believe my vacation has come to an end. It was a whirlwind of fun. Full of relaxation and rejuvenation exactly what I needed. I’d never been on a cruise and as you might imagine I was more then a little bit excited. My friend Rachel and I were making good on a promise that we’d made to each other about three years ago. Our week was filled with getting caught up and of course laughing a whole lot.
Our cruise started in Miami and ported for one day at Grand Turk. On board the boat there was endless things to do and there was no way you’d ever go hungry on a cruise. We enjoyed our share of ice cream and pizza in the wee hours of the morning. The stars were amazing at night out in the middle of the ocean. Seeing the vastness of the water around us throughout the day reminded me of how small I am and how big my God is.
One of the great things about this particular cruise is the many Christian artist we got to listen too. Some I’d heard before others I was able to listen to for the first time. Some of the songs put a smile on my face as I was reminded of the joy of the Lord. Others had me wiping tears away as the artists spoke and shared the stories behind the songs. Worshiping and with fellow believers was priceless.
The day we ported in Grand Turk Rachel and I took a kayaking excursion. We wanted to try to redeem ourselves from our unfortunate boating experiences at camp years ago. We made it back in one piece and didn’t flip once we were ecstatic. It was such a wonderful experience to be able to kayak in the Caribbean the views were breathtaking.
Rachel and I are already planning our next cruise can’t wait.
minutes after getting on the boat… a little bit excited!
meeting Wally and Zac!
These towel animals were awesome!
The weather feels different it feels like summer is officially gone and fall is here to stay. I’m loving watching the leaves change from green to yellow and orange. Excited to make soup and eat it on chillier nights. The windows are open now and I’m enjoying the fresh breeze fall brings with it. For the first time this year I tried a pumpkin spice latte and have found myself craving it ever since. I’m loving fall here in North Carolina.
It took us a few months of looking at fabric online till I came across the perfect fabric for the baby quilt. It had oranges, greens, and blues in the cutest patterns on it. One of the fabrics even had a list of beaches with Carolina Beach highlighted on it. Finally last week Becca and I were able to get together to quilt it. I loved doing this project and it went together effortlessly. Becca and I work well together making the project fly by. Can’t wait to wrap up my nephew in it.
I’ve had Bentley now for almost a year. Being a year older has not slowed him down in the least. Seriously when do dogs grow out of the “puppy stage”? Can’t imagine life without him though. He’s up for any adventure especially if it means that he gets to go for a car ride. I wish I had just a small portion of his energy. He can be sound asleep one minute and ready to run the next second. He wakes me up every morning ready to play, getting me out of the house rain or shine. I love how his tongue, that’s is too big for his mouth, hangs out even in his sleep. I feel so blessed to have found him that day on craigslist and even more grateful that the guy that looked at him before me thought he was just too big. Bentley makes life interesting.
The beach was uncrowded this morning as my friend and I made our way onto the beach. Bentley tugged at the leash excited for anything and everything. The sun peeks through the clouds turning the horizon a slight pink. We walk passing people with coffee mugs with the same intent as us here to enjoy the view. The wind feels good as the day is already giving us preview of it’s warmth and mugginess. The water is refreshing lapping at our feet except Bentley isn’t a very big fan. He jumps back at even the slight wave nearing him. This is my favorite time at the beach. Amidst the noise of the waves methodically lapping the shore there’s a beautiful sense of peace. I stand in awe of the one who designed the ocean and crafted the sunrise each every morning.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Enjoyed watching the storm roll in with the colors of the ocean vastly different then when it ‘s sunny out. Loved having the company of a good friend visiting from home. The sand we noted whipped across the beach very much like the snow in the middle of winter back in Minnesota. We both agreed the sand was far more enjoyable.
